The Danes have several public holidays and on these days, most shops are closed. New Year's Day, 1st January, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday before Easter Sunday followed by Easter Monday, Day of Prayer, which is on the fourth Friday after Easter, Ascension Day, 40 days after Easter. There are Whit Sunday and Whit Monday, which come 7 weeks after Easter. Constitution Day is on the 5th June. And there are the regular, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day on 24th and 25th December, as well as Boxing Day, on 26th December.
