Now home to Cerknica’s tourist information centre, centuries ago Cerknica Tabor was home to one of the most fortified strongholds designed to repel the Turks in all of the country. Only two of the five original towers still stand, but the 1000+year history of the town is palpable. Prominent Slovenian translator and songwriter Juže Udovič was born within the complex.
