When it comes to the tourist farm called Bajer, the keyword to remember is heritage. A mural on the side of the house itself showcases this from the start, but this doesn’t really prepare you for the serene pond round the back (the name should give that away, as bajer translates into English as ‘pond’). The heritage continues with both a 300-year-old mill (currently under restoration) and a still-working 150-year-old sawmill. Bajer also put the ‘farm’ back in to tourist farm, as this is indeed still a working farm, with a number of cows languidly idling the day away just around the corner. A flower shop ran by the family is also on the premises. Voted one of Slovenia’s most beautiful farms in 2014, it truly deserves that accolade.
