Whilst Palčje might be the largest lake in the Pivka basin, Petelinje is the longest lasting. Traditional filling up in the spring, it stays choc-full of water until sometimes as late as autumn, with a maximum depth of 5-7 metres. It is also home to a unique 5mm crab, which can only be found here. Good luck searching!
