The Green Karst is a land of myths and legends, and the mountain called Slivnica doesn’t escape this. This 1114m high mountain is supposedly the home of witches, and the local farmers blame these poor old bats for almost all misfortune. The handily named Witches’ Cave can be found below the summit, described by Valvasor as a hole where storms were made. Stories of cackling witches aside, Slivnica is a fairly easy hike to arguably the best view of Lake Cerknica, as well as an excellent starting point for paragliding and hand gliding.
