Located on De Beer Street in the heart of studenty Braamfontein, restaurant and cafe-bar Mangrove is part of a successful ongoing revival of the music scene in the area following the many closures of the pandemic. As part of this initiative, Mangrove houses 'A re iketleng', a monthly series of live music perfomances hosted by Akum Agency.

Headlining this month's edition of the live music celebration are some of SA's finest alternative bands. Among the biggest highlights of the lineup is the always thrilling indie-folk funk quartet Urban Village from Soweto, whose music fuses traditional and contemporary rural and urban sounds. They are joined on the headline spot by the genre-bending afro-futuristic performance art and music collective The Brother Moves On and Umle, a duo from Gqeberha whose music fuses Xhosa urban-folk and electric-Maskandi. Also supporting on the night are Deniece Marz, Dj Mighty, Mselisa The Slector, Umle and The Playlista

Doors open from 14:00. We recommend you book your tickets in advance online (space is limited!). Early bird tickets start from R200.
