more than a year ago
After the Siege of Kazan (1552) the tatars had to move to the village behind the city wall. The unique ensemble of Tatar residential and religious architecture was formed in the 17-18th centuries. There you can visit the Märcani Mosque - one of the oldest mosque in Kazan (ul. Kayuma Nasyri 17) built in 1766-1770-s, the museum of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay (ul. Gabdully Tukaya 74) and the Galiaskar Kamal State Academic Theatre (ul. Tatarstan 1).
