Laško has been known for it's healing thermal springs since as early as Roman times, with the first proper health spa finally being established here after the completion of the railway line in the mid-19th century. Nowadays the ever-growing resort complex has become one of Slovenia's top spa and wellness destinations, with the large retractable glass dome roof covering one of its pools serving as its trademark image. Set snuggly in the narrow green valley along the river, in addition to its numerous indoor and outdoor pools and sauna facilities, the resort is home to one of the country's largest medical rehabilitation centres, as well as two four-star hotels and several excellent restaurants. An overwhelming assortment of packages are available, from various health and massage programmes to a 4-day 'beer pampering' that includes a visit to the famous Laško Brewery on the other side of town. Both Slovene and foreign businesses also frequently make use of the modern meeting and conference facilities, the largest of which can seat nearly 300 participants, while those who are simply after a family day trip can take advantage of discounts offered in cooperation with Slovenian Railways.
