Animateka is an international festival focusing on high-quality original animated film. Every November/December, in three competition programs, it presents a top production of short animated films from Central and Eastern Europe, the most original European student films and carefully selected international films for children and teenagers. It also presents various special programs every year. Be it a selection of contemporary works from around the world, the history of animated films from different countries, various animation techniques or other thematic sections. Animateka also brings national premieres of the latest full-length animated films. Audiences of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy both the rich film program and numerous events such as talks with authors, lectures, round tables, regional pitchings (all within the industry-oriented AnimatekaPRO platform), workshops, exhibitions, concerts and informal get-togethers. The goal of Animateka is to be a central meeting point for experts from the region and the world, creating collaborations and co-productions, while at the same time attracting the interest of the local public to fall in love with the art of animated film.
