As you will find in many of Nizhny's establishments, Karamel's appearance seems stuck in an earlier era when beige was the 'in' colour. The food, however, is contempory Italian-inspired fare with a few interesting twists. It offers a remarkably wide choice of breakfast options, from unusual variations on traditional Russian kasha to a champagne European breakfast and a range of rich melted chocolate drinks. The cocktail menu is worth a look too, as is its selection of pasta and pizza.
