A short bus ride from the city centre will take you to this spacious woodland park, a popular spot for summertime picnics and walks. Its three lakes were artificially created in 1967 to celebrate the 50th jubilee of the Revolution. It's also the site of the snappily named Museum of the Architecture and Life of the Nizhegorodskoe Povolzhe Peoples, which due to a lack of funding has sadly fallen into a state of some disrepair, but still has a few interesting traditional buildings, transported in their entirety from the provinces and decked out as they might have been centuries ago.

GETTING THERE:
Bus No 28 leaves once or twice an hour from Pl. Minina (depending on what it feels like doing). After 15 minutes the bus should reach the Shchelokovsky Khutor stop, which is the end of the line.
