If you're like most visitors to Slovenia you have a vague understanding that the country is famous for its traditional beekeeping practices and of course its honey, and you may have even seen some painted beehive panels for sale in a gift shop, but you're not sure where to go to see a comprehensive presentation of this fascinating field - at least this is the feeling we once had.

However, with the opening of the Beekeeping Centre (or as it is officially called, the Beekeeping Development and Training Centre of Gorenjska) in Radovljica in 2012, all the education, development, demonstration and promotional activities related to beekeeping that you could possibly imagine can be found in the same place. Learn about the long history of beekeeping and see how honey gets from the flower to the jar, and is nowadays used for a diverse range of purposes in addition to sweetening your tea.

For most people the highlight of any visit will be tasting the different varieties of honey, but many other activities, workshops and short trips can be arranged with advanced notice. Definitely one of the sweetest destinations in Slovenia!
