Samara Arena's design concept is dominated by the theme of space, as a tribute to the traditions of the region, and its renowned aerospace sector. The shape of the stadium resemble a glass dome. A light, metallic hi-tech basic structure of weight-bearing supports provide a cover over the stands (60 meters high). By the evening, the whole structure is lit up, emphasising the stadium's expressive design. Now the stadium is home to FC Krylya Sovetov, a club that has made a number of appearances in Europe's club competitions.
