The Protner family's pride and joy are their nine hectares of vineyards (including three on the steep south facing Šempeter hills), which are lovingly cultivated through the year, finally producing a wide selection of white wines, ranging from sweet Rumeni Muškat to light fresh Šipon and Pinot Blanc, and everything in between. The sole red produced is an excellent Pinor Noir. The Protner estate features several cellars, including one that is over 200 years old, where the most precious examples in their collection are stored. Located northeast of Maribor, Joannes welcomes up to 60 guests for wine tastings, plus homemade meat, pate, cottage cheese and pumpkin seed oil (delightful) - all with fresh bread.
