Set amongst the landscape of seemingly endless hills, farmland and forests in the area north of Maribor, this organic family farm not only produces excellent wine, but is also active in beekeeping, the distillation of spirits (or žganje in Slovene) and the raising of dairy cows. However, it's in the vineyards that the most time is spent, and for which the estate is best known - recently winning the Bacchus Award, given each year at the Slovenian Wine Festival in Ljubljana to an up-and-coming star in the field of viticulture, as well as taking home multiple medals from the Decanter Awards in London. While the labels on their separate lines of fresh and bold wines (featuring a hand-drawn scarecrow and birds respectively) seem playful, the recognition has been hard-won, as the strictly organic farming methods in their vineyards produce less wine per vine, but assures both the highest possible quality and the preservation of the land for future generations.
