The village of Straža pri Krškem is nestled at the end of the picture-perfect little valley just south of the Sava River, and at its centre is the Kerin family's farm, whose wines were awarded top marks in several categories at the 2nd Modra Frankinja Wine Festival in September 2012. When not hand-crafting some of the best wines in the region, the family patriarch Lojze is in the process of restoring a century-old farmhouse constructed in typical Posavje style, so in the near future he can welcome even more guests to this little valley. The farm lies about 7.5km to the west of Krško, and can be reached quite easily by car, or cyclists can enjoy a pleasant ride that winds past various villages and rural scenery.
