Falafel King is undoubtedly the most brutal falafel joint in town – if not the whole world! Set in a dark basement, it’s got more of a heavy metal club feel (hard rock tunes blasting, tattooed staff) to it than an Israeli style vegetarian/vegan eatery. But what it lacks in hipster chic, pretty presentation and even a full set of cutlery, it certainly makes up with very democratic prices, enormous portions and surprisingly delicious food. The menu isn’t huge but it’s got all the most important basics: falafel in a pita, falafel platter with hummus, veggies, fried and bunch of other things overflowing the plate, salads like tabouleh and fatoush soups (lentil, vegetarian borsch and harira) and, of course, different types of hummus. There’s quite a decent selection of vegan desserts, just a few beers and tea, coffee and soft drinks. So for some 400-500Rbl you’ll be be full for the whole day. Cash only.
