Gypsies

The city is home to quite a number of these characters, and if your in the main square and surrounding areas expect to be confronted by one to 19 at any given hour of the day. They are practiced beggars and indeed it is a philosophical necessity in their life, thus the sight of a very young mother with child in tow holding her hand out is very typical. Little girls and boys get into the act too, commonly selling religious themed paintings or playing the accordion with a money jar at their feet. If you are weak of heart be sure to take out a small loan before relaxing in the centre for they're certainly dramatic and convincing in their pleas for your aid.
