The Saturday morning coffee ritual, in particular, is infinitely more than just coffee - it's a social happening. People cruise, chat, mingle and of course, sip their way through the corsos - or spicas - of Zagreb (Bogovićeva and Cvjetni Square are top destinations in the café society pecking order). And tough luck elbowing your way to a seat: turnover is low, as people spend a good part of their day static once settled. See and be seen is at the crux of it all. And the tradition is certainly an infectious, so put on your Saturday best and go wild. Or sit back, be provoked into thought, interrogate street vendors, sing along with buskers, ponder the fickle nature of fashion on the worthy specimens before you and, naturally, drink your coffee.
