The Five Ponds or Five Lakes Valley might be indeed a valley, but to get here you will have to do a bit of uphill hiking - don't underestimate this in the winter (crampons are a must!). Situated at 1625–1900 m above sea level, these five dark blue post-glacial lakes can be reached from Morskie Oko (blue trail, 2h, closed in winter) or Mickiewicz Falls (black trail, 2h05). From here trails lead to Kozi Wierch (black trail, 1h45), and Zawrat (blue trail, 1h25). There is a mountain hut right next to the northernmost lake. Close by on the green trail you will find the Siklawa Waterfall, Poland's largest.
