This 1120-1129m hill just northwest of the centre of Zakopane is the city's most popular viewpoint, with a funicular ferrying tourists up to the top where ski runs, a mini bobsleigh ride, and other more dubious attractions await. Yes, turn your back to the mountain vista and a smaller version of Krupówki greets you, with endless hamburger stands, kitschy souvenirs, and the occasional suspicious-looking shepherd wishing only to trouser your salary in return for a photograph of you and his mountain dog. Nevertheless, if you don't plan on venturing out into the mountains to hike, consider this the easiest way to get your Tatra fill (if you want to put in a bit more effort, take a bus to Kuźnice and take the cable car up to Kasprowy Wierch). If you're feeling energetic, skip the funicular and hike up; of the three trails leading to the top we recommend the blue one, which starts at the funicular station and after about 1h40 mercifully spits you out past the tourist kitsch. Alternatively, the black trail (starting next to the intersection of ul. Powstańców Śląskich and ul. Kaszelewskiego) takes only an hour, but follows the funicular, which isn't so fun (it's loud).
