Karol Szymanowski Museum - Atma Villa

  ul. Kasprusie 19      (+48) 18 201 34 93     more than a year ago
Karol Szymanowski (1882-1937), the most important Polish composer of the first half of the 20th century, was born in what’s now Ukraine and died in Switzerland. Between the years 1930 and 1936 he lived in this classic, late 19th-century Zakopane Style house, called Atma Villa, which is now a museum devoted to the composer. Of little interest to anyone without a specific interest, find four tiny rooms laid out with the usual array of photographs, scores and the inevitable grand piano. In Polish only, a small booklet in English about the man and the museum can be bought from the ticket office for 5zł. Concerts are held here during the summer.
