Rysy

more than a year ago

At 2499 m above sea level, Poland’s highest peak is actually the middle of Rysy's three summits, immediately put to shame by its triplet sister, 4 m taller and just across the Slovak border - and, to make it worse, Rysy don't even make Slovakia's fifteen highest mountains list. Nevertheless, if you only have time to climb one mountain in Poland, this is probably the one. To get here from the Polish side, you must go via Morskie Oko (red trail, 3h50 from the mountain hut). Beautiful views all along the way. Keep in mind that this is a long and steep climb, and your fitness level needs to be rather good; do not attempt in the winter unless you REALLY know what you're doing.
