A good introduction to both the culture and wildlife of the region, Zakopane’s charming Tatra Museum features two floors of diversions including a superb collection of folk art, recreations of traditional highland dwellings, rather a lot of stuffed brown bears and much more besides. Upstairs find fossils and a small natural history section of glass cases full of preserved animals that live in the area. In Polish only, it’s still worth a visit.
