Wielka Krokiew

ul. Bronisława Czecha 1     more than a year ago
Opened all the way back in 1925, this is still the largest ski jumping hill in Poland, a country obsessed with the sport (thanks, Adam Małysz!). In 1898, the 'Great Krokiew,' built on the slope of the 1378m Krokiew mountain, expanded its name to become the Stanisław Marusarz Wielka Krokiew in honour of Polish Olympian and 1938 world vice-champion ski jumper, who died in Zakopane in 1993. The official record of the HS 134 hill is 140.5m, held by Swiss jumper Simon Ammann.
