In many ways Sveti Duh (literally Holy Spirit) is a typical village in Bloke, but it isn’t just the name that allows it to stand out. Sveti Duh also stands as a reminder of Slovenia’s communist past. In 1955 the name of the village was changed to Kraijč, as Tito’s government tried to remove all religious elements throughout Yugoslavia. Its original name was restored in 1989. The famous Church of the Holy Spirit (which gives the village its name) is found here.
