Part of the Rakov Škocjan Valley, Tkalca Cave gets its name from a stalagmite found here that resembles a weaver. Supposedly, the big man in the sky turned this poor chap to stone because he dared to work on Sunday, the Lord’s day. A questionable origin aside, the cave is traversed by the Rak Creek (rak is ‘crab’ in Slovenian), and provides a hydrological connection between Cerknica and Planina Polje.
