As soon as you walk through the door, the unmistakable smell of Italy swarms into your nostrils. Okay, maybe not the entire nation of Italy, but Italian food at the very least. Mengeš isn’t exactly overflowing with restaurants, but a short 10-minute walk to the outskirts of the town will bring you to Buon Piatto (Italian for good dish). Opened by one man and his initiative some 15 years ago, the menu is almost exclusively pizza and pasta based and reasonably priced. ‘Buon piatto’ indeed.
