A tiny hamlet full of holiday cabins in the hills around Ilirksa Bistrica, Sviščaki is one of the best vantage points for photographs of Snežnik in the entire region. There is a genuine mountain settlement feel to Sviščaki, more a place that life continues than a tourist attraction. Still, there’s a ski slope (if there’s been enough snow of course), walking trails all around and a mountain hut for the hungry or tired. It is also an excellent starting point for trekking up Snežnik.
